Various militant and sectoral groups announced plans to file an impeachment complaint against President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. on Thursday, accusing him of betrayal of public trust.
The coalition includes taxpayers, workers, farmers, students, teachers, urban poor, professionals, and anti-corruption advocates.
The complaint will be endorsed by Makabayan bloc members ACT Teachers Representative Antonio Tinio, Gabriela Representative Sara Elago, and Kabataan Representative Renee Co.
“We expect that this verified complaint will be transmitted to the Speaker and included in the Order of Business, and not be excluded in favor of what many are saying is a weak first complaint intended to shield the President,” the advisory read.
According to the advisory, the complaint is “based on the systematic and large-scale plunder of public funds through a scheme of presidential and congressional ‘allocations’ for pet projects in the national budget.”
It further cited the “unprecedented abuse” of unprogrammed appropriations to finance alleged anomalous infrastructure projects, along with kickbacks, “SOPs” and “commitments” said to be “intended for the President and coursed through his top officials.”
“The system of ‘allocables’ and unprogrammed appropriations remain to this day. The SOPs and kickbacks involving top officials of the administration have not been investigated,” the advisory stated, adding: “These only demonstrate the President’s complicity in corruption. Lahat ng sangkot ay dapat managot, simula sa tuktok.”
