Former Commission on Elections (COMELEC) commissioner Rowena Guanzon delivered sharp criticism against the current administration, claiming she has never witnessed such widespread corruption in her decades-long political career.
Speaking during the Araw ng Dabaw celebration on Saturday, March 28, Guanzon said:
“Ilang taon na ko sa politika, sa tiyan pa lang ng nanay ko, 67 years old na ‘ko ngayon, politiko na ‘ko. Wala pa akong nakita na gobyerno na ganito, puro kamagnanakaw!”
Guanzon also declared her full support for Vice President Sara Duterte should she pursue a presidential bid in 2028. Duterte has previously signaled her intention to run for the country’s top post.
“Mga kawatan! Ang kailangan ng Pilipinas, reporma! Zero corruption! Zero tolerance. That’s why this early, I already commit my support to you, Vice President Sara Duterte, whether I run for senate or not. I am going to campaign as I am campaigning now for Sara Duterte to be the next president of the Philippines,” she said.
The former commissioner further reiterated her possible senatorial bid in 2028, noting that she is among those being considered for inclusion in Duterte’s potential senatorial slate.
