HALF OF FILIPINOS FAVOR HOLDING DUTERTE ACCOUNTABLE FOR DRUG WAR — SWS

Half of Filipinos believe former President Rodrigo Duterte should be held accountable for the bloody war on drugs during his administration, according to the latest survey by the Social Weather Stations (SWS).

The survey, released on Monday, October 13, showed that 50% of respondents supported Duterte’s accountability, while 32% opposed it and 15% remained undecided.

The Visayas recorded the highest percentage of respondents favoring accountability at 54%, followed by Metro Manila at 53%, and Balance Luzon at 52%. Meanwhile, Mindanao — considered the Duterte family’s stronghold — registered the lowest at 39%.

The survey was conducted from September 24 to 30 with 1,500 respondents nationwide.

Former President Duterte is currently detained at Scheveningen Prison in The Hague, Netherlands, facing cases before the International Criminal Court (ICC) for alleged crimes against humanity in connection with his administration’s controversial anti-drug campaign.
