HERBOSA FACES ICI TO DISCUSS SUPER HEALTH CENTER PROBE

Department of Health (DOH) Secretary Ted Herbosa has appeared before the Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI) to discuss the ongoing controversy surrounding the Super Health Centers (SHCs) across the country.

During the meeting, both agencies laid out the next steps in strengthening the DOH’s case-building process, which now covers 300 identified SHCs, up from the previous count of 297. The ICI has also committed to supporting the DOH in conducting a comprehensive investigation into the matter.

To ensure public transparency, the DOH will reactivate the Citizens Participatory Audit, following multiple reports from concerned citizens about unfinished or idle SHC projects after the agency publicly launched its probe.

Initial data from the DOH show that 878 Super Health Centers were funded through the Health Facility Enhancement Program (HFEP). Of these, 365 are currently under construction, 196 are operational, and 17 are partially operational, while 300 remain non-operational.

The DOH emphasized that the numbers are preliminary and are still subject to verification, in line with recommendations from the Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI).
