Eight priority measures identified by the Legislative-Executive Development Advisory Council (LEDAC) are now in advanced stages at the committee level of the House of Representatives, according to Ilocos Norte 1st District Representative Sandro Marcos.
“These committee-level approvals show that the House is doing the hard work early under the leadership of Speaker (Faustino) Dy (III), building consensus, refining policy and making sure the measures we bring to the floor are ready,” Marcos said.
He emphasized that the chamber’s focus remains on legislation directly affecting education, health, food security, and social protection.
“Our focus remains on bills that directly affect education, health, food security and social protection— areas where legislation translates into real impact for Filipino families,” he added.
The eight measures have already secured approval from their respective main committees and are awaiting fiscal and funding-related comments from the committee on appropriations. These include:
- Modernization of the Bureau of Immigration
- National Land Use Act
- Creation of an Independent People’s Commission
- Presidential Merit Scholarship Program
- Amendments to the Universal Access to Quality Tertiary Education Act
- Amendments to the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program Act
- Amendments to the Magna Carta for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises
- Resetting of elections in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM)
“We’ve already shown that when the House treats time as a responsibility, we can deliver,” Marcos said. “Out of 52 priority measures, 12 are already approved on third reading, and now eight more are moving closer to plenary action. That’s progress, and we intend to sustain it.”
He stressed that the House continues to prioritize legislation addressing pressing household needs.
“The goal is to pass sound, well-vetted laws that people can actually feel in their daily lives, whether in the classroom, at the health center, or at the dinner table,” Marcos said.
Other LEDAC priority measures include proposals abolishing the travel tax, the Expanded Online Sexual Abuse and Child Sexual Abuse or Exploitation Materials Act of 2026, an anti-fake news and digital disinformation bill, and the resetting of BARMM elections.
