House lawmakers on Wednesday assured the public that the bicameral conference committee meetings on the 2026 national budget will be livestreamed, dismissing claims by Senator Erwin Tulfo that some lower chamber members were opposing the broadcast.
The bicameral sessions are scheduled for December 12 to 14, following the Senate’s approval of the budget bill on third and final reading.
“I don’t think there should be any questions about it. Wala pa kaming nakikita, naririnig, o nakakausap na House member who wants na matanggal yang livestream na ‘yan,” Manila 1st District Representative Ernix Dionisio said in a press briefing.
“From the very beginning, klaro yung direction ng House, ila-livestream yan from the pre-budget deliberation… Ang gusto namin transparent yung proseso,” added Lanao del Sur 1st District Representative Zia Alonto Adiong.
Adiong said the House has yet to finalize its bicam contingent, though the Senate has already named its members.
“I am sure the leadership will come out with the exact numbers and who are the congressmen or women that will be part of the bicam contingent from the House,” he noted.
