HOUSE JUSTICE COMMITTEE SETS FIRST HEARING ON VP SARA IMPEACHMENT COMPLAINTS

The House Committee on Justice has issued a formal notice to its members and endorsers of the four impeachment complaints filed against Vice President Sara Duterte.

Antonio Tinio, ACT Teachers Party-list Representative, released a copy of the notice, scheduling the first hearing at 10 a.m. on Monday, March 2, at the second floor of the People’s Center.

The four complaints were referred to the Justice Committee, chaired by Gerville Lusitro, by the House plenary on February 23.

The complaints were filed as follows:

  • February 2: Makabayan coalition complaint.
  • February 2: Civil society coalition complaint, endorsed by Leila de Lima (Mamamayang Liberal Party-list) and Perci Cendaña (Akbayan Party-list).
  • February 9: Complaint by private individuals, including priests and lawyers, also endorsed by de Lima.
  • February 18: Complaint filed by lawyer Nathaniel Cabrera, endorsed by Benny Abante (Manila’s 6th District) and Paolo Ortega (La Union’s 1st District).

The complaints raise similar allegations, including irregularities in the use of confidential funds, threats to the life of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., unexplained wealth, and the affidavit of Ramil Madriaga.
