HOUSE OKS 12 LEDAC PRIORITY BILLS AHEAD OF CHRISTMAS BREAK

The House of Representatives approved 12 priority measures of the Legislative Executive Development Advisory Council (LEDAC) on Monday, just before Congress suspended its regular session for the Christmas break, underscoring its push to pass key reforms before yearend.

House Speaker Faustino “Bojie” Dy III called on lawmakers to sustain their commitment to public service, emphasizing that genuine fulfillment in governance comes from serving people with integrity.

Among the measures approved was the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation bill, which seeks to institutionalize government aid for Filipinos facing emergencies.

The House also passed the National Reintegration Bill to support overseas Filipino workers returning home, and the National Center for Geriatric Health bill aimed at improving healthcare services for senior citizens.

Other approved LEDAC priority measures include amendments to the Government Assistance to Students and Teachers in Private Education Act and the Teachers Professionalization Act, the proposed Blue Economy Act, a bill strengthening the Energy Regulatory Commission, a measure promoting waste-to-energy technologies, the establishment of a Department of Water Resources, amendments to the National Building Code and the Bank Secrecy Law, and a bill extending the estate tax amnesty.

The passage of the measures capped the House’s legislative work ahead of the holiday break, with leaders signaling continued focus on priority reforms when sessions resume.
