The House Committee on Justice has directed the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to turn over corporate records of several companies allegedly linked to Vice President Sara Duterte and her husband, Mans Carpio.
In a subpoena issued by the committee, SEC Chairperson Francis Edralin Lim was also ordered to appear at a hearing scheduled for April 14.
Lawmakers are seeking certified true copies of the firms’ General Information Sheets and audited financial statements.
Among the companies named in the subpoena are Metro City Chow Foods Corporation, Gencorp Industries Inc., Carpio Lawyers, 888 Bistro, and CALE88 Foods Corporation. Other entities listed include Madayaw Fisheries Corporation, Mati City Ice Plant and Cold Storage Inc., Amianan Shores Inc., Geometry Security and Investigation Agency Inc., and Cabletow 88 Shipping and Marine Services Inc.
The House Justice Committee is currently conducting an impeachment inquiry to determine whether there is probable cause to pursue charges against the vice president. If the panel finds sufficient grounds, the case will be elevated to the Senate for trial.
