HOUSE SEEKS ₱27-B BUDGET FOR 2026, LOWER THAN THIS YEAR’S ₱33-B FUND

The House of Representatives is seeking a ₱27 billion budget for fiscal year 2026, lower than its ₱33 billion allocation for 2025, according to the House-approved House Bill 4058.

Under the proposed budget, ₱14.89 billion is allotted for general management and supervision, ₱649.4 million for personnel benefits, and ₱12.16 billion for legislation and related activities.

While allocations for management and personnel benefits have increased from the previous year, funding for legislation has decreased sharply from ₱22 billion to ₱12.16 billion.

The proposed budget also includes ₱18 billion for maintenance and operating expenses, ₱8.12 billion for personnel services, and ₱1 billion for capital outlay.

Despite the reduction, the ₱27-billion proposal remains significantly higher than the ₱16.3-billion budget recommended by President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. for the legislative chamber next year.
