HOUSE TO IMPLEMENT MODIFIED WFH ARRANGEMENT AMID OIL CRISIS

The House of Representatives of the Philippines will adopt a modified work-from-home (WFH) setup in line with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s directive to conserve resources amid the ongoing oil crisis.

In a memorandum dated March 12, House Secretary General Cheloy Garafil announced that employees will report on-site only two days a week during the congressional recess—Tuesdays and Wednesdays—while working from home on Mondays and Thursdays. Congress is scheduled to be on recess from March 21 to May 3, 2026.

During session days, staff will report physically from Monday to Wednesday, with Thursday designated as WFH. The chamber has long observed a four-day workweek, operating from Monday through Thursday.

Garafil stressed that services must remain uninterrupted, directing offices to post contact details on the House website, Facebook page, and Viber group for accessibility during WFH days.

A skeletal workforce will be deployed on-site for essential units, including the Engineering and Physical Facilities Department, Medical and Dental Services, Record Management Services, and the Legislative Security Bureau.
