House Speaker and Isabela 6th District Representative Bojie Dy on Thursday affirmed that the House of Representatives and its members will fully cooperate with ongoing investigations into alleged corruption involving flood control projects.
His statement came after the Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI) recommended charges against seven incumbent lawmakers and one who has resigned.
Dy stressed that the probe will not hinder the chamber’s legislative work, emphasizing accountability as a core duty of public service.
“Ang pananagutan ay bahagi ng pagiging lingkod-bayan, at ang lahat ng miyembro—iniimbestigahan man o hindi—ay handang makipagtulungan sa anumang proseso habang patuloy na ginagampanan ang kanilang papel bilang mambabatas,” Dy said.
Several House members — including former Speaker and Leyte 1st District Representative Martin Romualdez — have already appeared before the ICI, which has committed to livestream proceedings while allowing closed-door sessions when requested.
The ICI and the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) earlier recommended administrative and criminal charges against lawmakers allegedly linked to construction firms that secured government flood control contracts.
Ombudsman Boying Remulla, whose office will evaluate the recommendations, warned that around 15 more lawmakers may be implicated.
He noted the extent of the controversy could affect legislative operations, saying, “More than 10% of Congress will be affected.”
Despite this, Dy reiterated that the House remains committed to cooperation as investigations unfold into irregular, substandard, and non-existent flood control projects.
