The Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI) has issued a new subpoena to former Ako Bicol Party-list Representative Zaldy Co in connection with his alleged involvement in irregularities surrounding several flood control projects.
According to reports on Tuesday, October 28, ICI executive director Brian Keith Hosaka confirmed that the subpoena was sent to Co’s residences in Pasig and Bicol on October 20.
“We’re just awaiting the reports coming from the one who had served these,” said Hosaka. “Then once we receive these from them, then we will study the matter kung ano ‘yong magiging next action or steps ng ICI.”
Co’s hearing before the ICI has been scheduled for November 11 and 12.
He is among several high-profile figures reportedly set to receive subpoenas from the commission, including former House Speaker and Leyte 1st District Representative Ferdinand Martin Romualdez and Senator Mark Villar.
Meanwhile, reports indicate that Co is no longer in the United States, based on data from the U.S. Customs and Border Protection.
The former lawmaker earlier flew abroad purportedly for medical treatment, even as controversies and corruption allegations surrounding the flood control projects continue to mount.
