The Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI), tasked with probing alleged irregularities in flood control projects, is close to completing its work and preparing to submit its final findings, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. announced.
Speaking at a press briefing, Marcos said the commission has largely fulfilled its mandate and is now consolidating its findings into a final report.
“Their brief has already been fulfilled,” Marcos told reporters.
The ICI was established in September 2025 amid public concern over alleged multi-million peso corruption in flood control initiatives. The commission is chaired by retired Supreme Court Associate Justice Andres Reyes Jr., while two former members, Rogelio “Babes” Singson and Rossana Fajardo, resigned last year due to health and security reasons.
Marcos elaborated that the commission is in the process of finalizing its documentation before forwarding the report to the Department of Justice and the Office of the Ombudsman for possible legal action.
“Well, right now what the ICI is doing is that they are collating all of their findings because dadalhin nila – siyempre, they are also writing their final report. I think baka tapos na. But… essentially within the ICI itself has made a determination that much of their work has already been done,” he said.
The upcoming report is expected to influence accountability measures and potential sanctions tied to the flood control project controversy.
