Illegal vehicle turning emerged as the most common traffic violation in 2025, according to the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA).
Citing data from its Traffic Ticket Management Division, the MMDA said unattended illegal parking ranked second, followed by disregarding traffic signs, violation of the number coding scheme, and attended illegal parking.
The agency urged motorists to be more disciplined and comply with traffic rules as it continues implementing the Road Safety Action Plan, which aims to reduce road-related deaths through five pillars: road safety management, safer roads, safer vehicles, safer road users, and post-crash response.
“This new year, be more disciplined and continue to follow traffic laws for smoother travel and safer roads for all road users,” the MMDA said in a Facebook post.
Meanwhile, newly-appointed MMDA General Manager Nicolas Torre III said the agency will push for faster response times to road crashes, noting that collisions remain the top cause of road obstructions in Metro Manila.
Torre said the MMDA would “set benchmarks like five minutes for response [time and] 10 to 15 minutes for clearing.”
The MMDA also reminded the public that the No Contact Apprehension Policy (NCAP) remains in effect across Metro Manila.
Under NCAP, traffic violations are recorded via closed-circuit television and manually validated by MMDA personnel and the Land Transportation Office.
Motorists may now check possible violations online, with the MMDA noting: “Motorists will enter their plate and MV File number and view the evidence if their vehicle is tagged with a violation.”
