INFRASTRUCTURE PROBE BODY ENDS MANDATE AFTER SUBMITTING FLOOD CONTROL CORRUPTION REPORT

The Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI) has officially concluded its mandate after completing its investigation into the multi-billion peso flood control corruption scandal on Tuesday, March 31.

Communications Undersecretary and Palace Press Officer Claire Castro confirmed that ICI chairperson, retired Supreme Court Associate Justice Andres Reyes Jr., submitted the commission’s accomplishment report to Malacañang Palace.

With the report now forwarded to the Department of Justice (DOJ) and the Office of the Ombudsman, Castro said it is now up to these agencies to act on the commission’s recommendations regarding who should face charges.

“Lahat ng kanilang nairekomenda na makasuhan o for further investigation nasa kamay na po iyan ng DOJ at Ombudsman,” Castro stated.

She noted that the commission worked tirelessly, adding that both the DOJ and the Ombudsman were overwhelmed by the large number of individuals recommended for prosecution.

Castro also assured the public that cases will be pursued against those implicated, regardless of their position, stressing that accountability will be based on evidence rather than “pa-media at pa-drama” tactics.
