Senator Jinggoy Estrada appeared before the Sandiganbayan on Monday to formally report his return to the Philippines following his approved travel abroad during Holy Week.
The Sandiganbayan Fifth Division earlier granted Estrada’s request to visit Hong Kong, Macau, and Japan from March 31 to April 5.
His travel clearance comes amid 11 pending graft charges linked to his alleged misuse of the Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF) during his Senate term from 2004 to 2010.
The Office of the Ombudsman accused Estrada of diverting portions of his PDAF to non-government organizations tied to businesswoman Janet Lim-Napoles in exchange for kickbacks.
Estrada, who posted bail, was acquitted in 2024 of plunder charges related to the same PDAF controversy.
