Senate President Pro Tempore Panfilo “Ping” Lacson was re-elected Friday as chairman of the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee, over a month after resigning due to differences with some sectors on his handling of the flood control probe.
The plenary session re-elected Lacson with “no objections.”
Senate Finance Committee Chairman Sherwin “Win” Gatchalian announced that plenary deliberations on the 2026 budget, originally set for November 14, will give way to the resumption of the Blue Ribbon Committee inquiry this Friday.
Plenary deliberations will begin Wednesday, November 12, with Gatchalian’s sponsorship speech, followed by full deliberations the next day.
Lacson had resigned after reportedly receiving several complaints from fellow senators regarding his handling of the committee.
