LACSON: ROMUALDEZ, 18 LAWMAKERS TO BE INVITED TO NEXT BLUE RIBBON HEARING

Senate President Pro Tempore Panfilo “Ping” Lacson said former House Speaker Martin Romualdez and 18 other lawmakers linked to the multibillion-peso flood control scandal will be invited to the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee hearing set for November 14.

“After the election this afternoon, we’ll get back to work. Kasama doon yung pagpapadala ng invitation through the Office of the Speaker of the House of Representatives,” Lacson told reporters.

He confirmed that the list includes Benguet Rep. Eric Yap and the 17 congressmen named by contractors Sarah and Curlee Discaya, who earlier alleged that several lawmakers and DPWH officials demanded 10–25% kickbacks from public works projects.

Lacson also teased the appearance of a “very important witness” who has already prepared an affidavit.

“Medyo. Anyway, three days away. Hintayin na lang natin,” he said when asked if the testimony would be a bombshell.

He added that former Ako Bicol Rep. Zaldy Co, who reportedly left the country, would still be invited to testify virtually through a Philippine embassy or consulate.
