Senate President Pro Tempore Ping Lacson has suggested that the number of individuals involved in the flood control scam could exceed the 1,200 previously reported by the Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI).
According to Lacson, the initial figure shared by ICI Commissioner Babes Singson was based only on 420 “ghost projects” out of the 8,000 projects they initially reviewed.
The number has since risen to 472, as reported by Singson to the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee, prompting Lacson to believe that the total number of people involved could surpass 2,000.
“Napakalawak kaya ‘di lang 1,200 ‘yan. Baka umabot ng 2,000 mahigit,” Lacson said.
He also stressed that actions against those potentially involved should not be rushed, as they must ultimately lead to proper prosecution, imprisonment, and punishment.
