Senator Lito Lapid has expressed his full support for the reinstatement of Senate President Pro Tempore Panfilo “Ping” Lacson as chairperson of the powerful Senate Blue Ribbon Committee, describing him as a credible, no-nonsense, and impartial investigator.
“Welcome na welcome po kasi alam nyo credible naman po siya. Naging Chief PNP ‘yan. Naging imbestigador ‘yan. Kaya maganda na ibinalik sa kanya kasi alam ng taumbayan na talagang pag nag-imbestiga ‘yan, totoo. Walang kaplastikan at walang kinakampihan,” Lapid said in an interview.
Lapid praised the Senate leadership’s decision to restore Lacson to the committee helm, saying his experience and reputation would help rebuild public trust in the Senate’s investigative functions.
“Kaya tamang-tama ‘yun. Tama ang desisyon,” he added.
The Blue Ribbon Committee, formally known as the Senate Committee on Accountability of Public Officers and Investigations, handles inquiries on alleged government corruption, misconduct, and other high-profile controversies.
Lapid and Lacson both ran under the “Alyansa Para sa Bagong Pilipinas” coalition—the senatorial slate of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.—during the 2025 midterm elections.
The actor-turned-lawmaker also supported Lacson and his former running mate, Senate President Vicente “Tito” Sotto III, during their 2022 presidential and vice-presidential campaign.
Lapid said Lacson’s return to the Blue Ribbon post sends a strong signal that the Senate remains committed to truth, transparency, and accountability.
