LEGARDA CLARIFIES “VETERANS BLOC” HAS YET TO DECIDE ON MINORITY ROLE IN 20TH CONGRESS

Senator Loren Legarda clarified that the so-called “veterans bloc” has not yet decided whether it will serve as the minority bloc in the 20th Congress should Senator Chiz Escudero succeed in his bid for Senate President.

This comes in response to an earlier remark by Senator Migz Zubiri, who said that their group may form the new minority bloc if Escudero clinches the Senate leadership.

The “veterans bloc” is composed of Senators Legarda, Zubiri, Lito Lapid, Ping Lacson, and former Senate President Tito Sotto — the group’s bet for the Senate leadership.

When asked if their group is actively courting other lawmakers to join them — particularly the trio of Senators Risa Hontiveros, Bam Aquino, and Kiko Pangilinan — Legarda opted not to give a direct response.

“Ang gusto kong gawin ay trabaho, hindi mga, honestly, you know me. Politics and blocs and alignments, that’s secondary to the work I do.

Legarda has been a consistent advocate for climate action and resilience, often pushing policies and convening forums to address environmental concerns.
