LEONEN STRESSES SUPREME COURT’S IMPARTIALITY IN FLOOD CONTROL SCAM PROBE

Senior Associate Justice Marvic Leonen underscored the importance of maintaining the Supreme Court’s impartiality in the ongoing investigation into the alleged flood control scam, noting that the cases could eventually reach the High Court for adjudication.

Leonen emphasized that the judiciary must remain independent as it will ultimately have to review and evaluate the evidence presented in the case.

“At the end of the day, we will have to receive the evidence,” he said.

He also urged investigators to ensure that all evidence is properly gathered and presented in accordance with due process and within the appropriate timeframe.

Leonen assured the public that the Supreme Court is ready to apply the reforms under its Strategic Plan for Judicial Innovations 2022–2027 in handling such cases, adding that cooperation among all pillars of justice is essential in pursuing accountability and transparency.
