Ilocos Norte 1st District Representative Sandro Marcos and members of the First Family are open to any lifestyle check should one be requested, a Palace official said on Tuesday, December 2.
Presidential Communications Office and Palace Press Officer Claire Castro made the remark following an investigative report tagging the presidential son as among those who received “allocable funds” from the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) between 2023 and 2025.
“Wala namang ipinagbabawal sa lifestyle check,” Castro said. “Open po [sila], even before.”
The report alleged that nearly ₱1.2 trillion in DPWH allocable funds were distributed to districts under an informal “BBM Parametric Formula,” resulting in uneven allocations nationwide.
It noted that ₱15.8 billion went to Sandro Marcos’ Ilocos bailiwick, while ₱14.4 billion was allotted to the district of former House Speaker Martin Romualdez—far higher than allocations for many heavily populated districts.
The Palace said President Bongbong Marcos has read the report and continues to trust that his son “knows what he is doing.”
Castro added that Marcos has previously signaled willingness to undergo any lifestyle check and even volunteered to be investigated by the Independent Commission on Infrastructure (ICI), which is probing anomalous flood control projects.
“Bigyan lamang po siya ng date para po magkaroon ng tamang schedule,” Castro said.
Marcos’ name surfaced in the controversy after former Ako Bicol Representative Zaldy Co—now in hiding amid the corruption scandal—linked him to the flood control fund issue.
