The LRT-2 will extend its operating hours from December 9 to 30 to accommodate commuters, employees, and shoppers during the holiday season.
Starting December 9, the extended schedule will be in effect, including Christmas Day, December 25:
- Last train from Antipolo Station – 10:00 p.m.
- Last train from Recto Station – 10:30 p.m.
On Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve, the trains will operate on a shortened schedule:
- December 24: Antipolo – 8:00 p.m.; Recto – 8:30 p.m.
- December 31: Antipolo – 7:00 p.m.; Recto – 7:30 p.m.
Regular operations will resume on January 1.
Meanwhile, MRT-3 will adjust its schedule for December 24, 25, 31, and January 1:
- December 24 and 31: First trip – North Ave. 4:30 a.m., Taft Ave. 5:05 a.m.; Last trip – North Ave. 7:45 p.m., Taft Ave. 8:23 p.m.
- December 25 and January 1: First trip – North Ave. & Taft Ave. 6:30 a.m.; Last trip – North Ave. 10:30 p.m., Taft Ave. 11:09 p.m.
Department of Transportation (DOTr) Acting Secretary Giovanni Lopez assured that the LRT-2’s one-hour extension will not compromise maintenance and safety routines.
“Ang sabi sa atin ng Pangulong Marcos, Jr. dapat mas maraming pasahero ang maserbisyuhan natin ngayong magpa-Pasko. Tinitiyak naman natin sa mga pasahero na kahit extended ang service ng LRT-2, masusi pa rin ang ating maintenance at safety routines sa mga tren at mga riles,” he said.
