The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) has issued 23 additional show cause orders (SCOs) to public utility vehicle (PUV) and terminal operators in Metro Manila for failing to comply with requirements on adequate terminals and roadworthy vehicles.
With the latest issuance, LTFRB-NCR said a total of 50 SCOs have been served as of Saturday. The orders require operators to submit verified responses by March 17, addressing deficiencies in passenger terminals and vehicle safety.
The agency stressed that motions to dismiss will not be entertained, and failure to respond or appear at hearings will be considered a waiver of the right to be heard.
Last week, LTFRB-NCR issued 10 SCOs against operators of dilapidated jeepneys in Quezon City after surprise inspections. Regional director Zona Russet Tamayo reminded operators to strictly comply with franchise terms and ensure roadworthiness of their units.
“LTFRB-NCR will conduct its random operations in different parts of Metro Manila in the succeeding days, hence, operators are forewarned to strictly comply with LTFRB policy issuances and franchise terms and conditions,” the agency said.
The crackdown underscores the LTFRB’s push to enforce safety standards and improve passenger comfort across Metro Manila’s transport system.
