The Mayors for Good Governance (M4GG) announced on Thursday the launch of its anti-corruption hotline and online portal, enabling citizens to report anomalous, substandard, or overpriced infrastructure projects nationwide.
In a press release, the coalition said the public can now call 8459-0143 from Monday to Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., starting October 16, to submit reports. Online submissions can also be made through M4GG’s anti-corruption portal.
“The new initiative seeks to curb corruption in public works by providing a safe and accessible channel for citizens, government employees, contractors, and local stakeholders to share verified information or evidence of anomalous practices,” the group said, referring to the campaign dubbed “Report INFRA.”
M4GG explained that its technical and legal teams will verify submissions before forwarding validated reports to the Independent Commission on Infrastructure (ICI), with which the coalition has an existing partnership.
Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto and Baguio City Mayor Benjie Magalong both stressed the importance of citizen participation in combating corruption.
“We need whistleblowers who will expose the graft and corrupt practices that are being done in their areas,” Sotto said. “If we want genuine and lasting change to happen in our country, we all have to do our own share to hold these corrupt officials accountable.”
Magalong echoed the sentiment, saying: “The corruption happening in our government is a huge problem, so we need our fellow citizens to help in finding information and evidence about the irregularities committed in their localities.”
The M4GG gained significant public traction for its strong advocacy for transparency and accountability in flood control projects across the country, amid the government’s ongoing crackdown on anomalies involving certain contractors, lawmakers, and Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) officials.
