If plans push through, Baguio City Mayor Benjie Magalong and former Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Rogelio “Babes” Singson will comprise two of the three members of an independent commission that President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.’s administration is set to establish.
According to reliable sources, other figures being considered for inclusion are former Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Nicolas Torre III, Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto, and retired Supreme Court Senior Associate Justice Estela M. Perlas-Bernabe.
In a message sent to GMA News, Singson confirmed he may indeed join the body.
“I might be part only. If PBBM thinks I can help, let’s see,” Singson said.
Magalong is credited with exposing corruption in government flood control projects, while Singson served as DPWH Secretary under the Aquino administration.
The planned independent commission will conduct a wide-ranging investigation into anomalous flood control projects and pursue legal cases against those found liable.
