Members of the Makabayan bloc announced they will return to the Office of the Secretary General on Monday to formally refile the second impeachment complaint against President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.
ACT Teachers Partylist Representative Antonio Tinio, Gabriela Partylist Representative Sarah Elago, and Kabataan Partylist Representative Renee Co are set to accompany the complainants at around 10 a.m. on January 26, Monday.
“We hope that there would be no more excuses on the part of the House in accepting the complaint and further obstructing efforts toward accountability,” the group said in a media advisory.
The bloc added that they will request Secretary General Cheloy Garafil to immediately forward the complaint to the Office of the Speaker so it can be included in the Order of Business during the afternoon plenary session.
Last Thursday, the Makabayan bloc attempted to file the complaint at the SecGen’s office, but it was not received as Garafil was on an official trip abroad. The group instead left a copy of the complaint at the office.
The move underscores the bloc’s determination to push forward with the impeachment process, despite procedural setbacks.
