The Makabayang Koalisyon ng Mamamayan, or Makabayan bloc, filed a consolidated motion for reconsideration and intervention before the Supreme Court today, August 8 (Friday).
The group is urging the high court to overturn its earlier decision declaring the Articles of Impeachment against Vice President Sara Duterte unconstitutional.
In their petition, Makabayan asked the court to allow the Senate to fulfill its constitutional duty and to stop the archiving of the complaint, which is linked to the alleged misuse of public funds.
They also disputed the Supreme Court’s claim that the House of Representatives violated the one-year bar rule when it proceeded with the fourth impeachment complaint against the Vice President.
