Malacañang on Wednesday reiterated that the EDSA People Power Revolution remains a permanent part of Philippine history, even as no official statement has been released for this year’s commemoration.
“There is no information that we have released regarding that yet,” Communications Undersecretary and Palace Press Officer Claire Castro told reporters.
Asked about the significance of EDSA, Castro emphasized its enduring place in the nation’s story:
“It’s part of the history, hindi ito mabubura… Ang katapangan ng mga Pilipino, ang pagtanggap sa pangyayari hindi po iyan mabubura sa history,” she said.
The 1986 uprising toppled the regime of Ferdinand Marcos Sr.—father of current President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.—restored democracy, and remains a landmark of citizen empowerment and peaceful revolution.
