MALACAÑANG DENIES VIRAL “EXTENDED HOLIDAY” ORDER FOR GOV’T EMPLOYEES

Malacañang on December 11 dismissed a circulating “memorandum circular” that purportedly gave government employees an extended holiday break on December 26 and 29, calling it fake news.

Executive Secretary Ralph Recto clarified, “I never issued, much less signed, any order suspending work on those dates,” describing the viral Memorandum Circular No. 47 as a forgery.

The document, which spread widely on social media, included official formatting and a scanned signature to appear authentic, claiming it was meant to promote “work-life balance” and emotional wellness for civil servants.

Malacañang stressed that no such directive exists, noting that December 26 and 29 are not regular or special non-working holidays for 2025.

The Palace urged the public to remain cautious against fabricated announcements, particularly during the holiday season.
