MALACAÑANG: NO TALKS YET ON AMENDING OIL DEREGULATION LAW

Malacañang on Tuesday clarified that President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has not taken up any proposal to amend or repeal the country’s Oil Deregulation Law during recent meetings.

According to Palace Press Officer Claire Castro, no formal measure has been submitted to the Office of the President, despite public remarks suggesting that such a bill could be certified as urgent.

Castro emphasized that the President cannot act on or certify any proposal without an official submission, noting that the process requires a concrete bill for review.

She added that once a formal proposal is filed, the President is expected to respond promptly.

For now, she said, the administration remains focused on addressing the impact of rising fuel prices on Filipinos, particularly as global oil costs continue to climb amid tensions in the Middle East.
