Malacañang expressed support for proposals from private companies to implement work-from-home (WFH) arrangements amid the ongoing oil crisis.
During a press briefing on Friday, March 27, Communications Undersecretary and Palace Press Officer Claire Castro said such measures could provide significant relief during this period.
“Kung ‘yan po ang magiging panukala ng mga private business companies, makakatulong po ng malaki,” she said.
Castro clarified that President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. would not dictate or prevent private firms from adopting WFH setups if they see them as beneficial.
“Pero syempre po hindi naman didiktahan ng Pangulo ang mga pribadong kumpanya kung nakikita po nila na ito’y makakabuti sa ating bayan,” she added.
She described the suggestion from the private sector as a positive step, particularly in reducing fuel consumption.
“Para sa interes ng ating mga kababayan para makatipid din po sa fuel o sa produktong petrolyo… Maganda po ‘yang suggestion,” Castro said.
Meanwhile, President Marcos earlier assured the public that the country currently has enough crude oil supply to last until June 30, following the arrival of 700,000 barrels of imported crude from Russia.
He also emphasized that the government will continue sourcing additional supplies to ease the burden caused by tensions in the Middle East.
