Malacañang has called on critics and online bashers to set aside politics during Holy Week, emphasizing that the season should be a time for reflection rather than attacks against the government.
Communications Undersecretary and Palace Press Officer Claire Castro said the public should instead cooperate with authorities in addressing challenges such as the rising cost of oil triggered by tensions in the Middle East.
“Sa atin lang, sa panahon ngayon ay iwasan natin sana ang pamumulitika. Kung wala silang masabing maganda at kung hindi paninira lamang, tumigil muna sila permanently,” Castro remarked.
She stressed that critics are acting out of self-interest, aiming to undermine the administration at a time when the country is grappling with external pressures.
According to Castro, such actions are ill-timed given the current situation.
The Palace’s call highlights its push for unity and restraint during Holy Week, framing political attacks as distractions from pressing economic concerns.
