MANILA ROADS CLOSED, REROUTING SET FOR NAZARENO FEAST

The Manila Police District (MPD) announced the closure of several roads and rerouting schemes in the City of Manila for the Feast of the Jesus Nazareno on Friday, January 9.

Road closures will begin at 9 p.m. on Thursday, January 8, affecting major routes including Bonifacio Drive, Katigbak Drive, Independence Road, P. Burgos, Finance Road, Ma. Orosa, Taft Avenue, Ayala Boulevard, C. Palanca, P. Casal, Legarda, Quezon Boulevard, Lerma, McArthur Bridge, and Jones Bridge.

Southbound rerouting includes vehicles from Mel Lopez Blvd. turning to Capulong St. and Yuseco St., those from A. Mendoza St. redirected to Fugoso St. and Rizal Ave., and vehicles from Rizal Ave. rerouted via Recto and Legarda. Light vehicles from Bonifacio Drive will pass through Anda Circle to Soriano Ave.

For northbound traffic, vehicles from A. Mabini and Ma. Orosa will be diverted to U.N. Ave. and P. Guanzon St., while trucks from Osmeña Highway and Roxas Blvd. will reroute through Pres. Quirino Ave. to Mabini Bridge. Light vehicles from Roxas Blvd. will also be redirected via U.N. Ave.

The Philippine National Police earlier announced that around 15,000 officers will be deployed to secure the annual feast.
