MARCOS ACCEPTS NBI CHIEF SANTIAGO’S IRREVOCABLE RESIGNATION

National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) Director Jaime Santiago confirmed that Malacañang has accepted his irrevocable resignation.

During the agency’s flag-raising ceremony on Monday, October 27, Santiago announced before his colleagues that President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. had formally accepted his decision to step down.

“Today, I want to inform you that the President [has] finally accepted my irrevocable resignation,” Santiago said.

He also mentioned that a new order appointing his successor is expected to be released soon.

“So within the day or these day to come, lalabas na ang order, magkakaroon na kayo ng panibagong leader […] But definitely, ang order will come out within the day, tomorrow, or basta within the week,” he added.

Before concluding his message, Santiago offered a final salute to his colleagues.

“Maraming salamat sa inyo. Hayaan ninyong sumaludo ako sa inyo sa huling sandali,” he said.

Santiago did not disclose who would succeed him as the next NBI Director.

It can be recalled that Malacañang confirmed Santiago’s resignation last August 16, 2025. In his letter, he stated that his decision stemmed from what he described as an “orchestrated move” aimed at tarnishing his reputation.

“Detractors and those who have a sinister interest in my position incessantly make moves to blemish my reputation,” he wrote, adding, “I cannot allow this seemingly orchestrated move to blacken my reputation, which I have built through the years.”

Santiago, however, did not identify those allegedly behind the supposed orchestrated effort against him.
