MARCOS APPOINTS SINGSON, FAJARDO, AND MAGALONG TO NEWLY FORMED INFRA COMMISSION

By virtue of Executive Order No. 94 signed by President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., former Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Rogelio “Babes” Singson and SGV Country Managing Partner Rossana Fajardo have been appointed as members of the Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI). The commission was formed to investigate alleged irregularities in flood control projects.

Baguio City Mayor Benjie Magalong, who first exposed corruption involving some lawmakers and their “kickbacks” from flood control projects, will serve as the special adviser of the commission.

“Bawat isa sa kanila ay may mahabang karanasan sa pagtukoy ng mga problema sa loob ng mga institusyon at sa pagpapatupad ng mga reporma sa malalaking organisasyon,” said Palace Press Officer Usec. Claire Castro, explaining President Marcos’ decision to appoint Singson, Fajardo, and Magalong to their respective posts.

Singson previously served as DPWH Secretary under the late President Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III. During his term, he also led the Bases Conversion and Development Authority. Malacañang recalled that he was instrumental in stopping ghost projects and instituting reforms within the DPWH, making his expertise critical in handling infrastructure-related investigations.

Fajardo, on the other hand, is a senior executive of the private firm SGV. According to the company’s website, she has worked with clients in telecommunications, media, entertainment, and technology. The Palace noted that her focus in the commission will be on paper trails, fraud detection, and identifying weaknesses in financial systems.

Meanwhile, the Marcos administration is expected to announce another member of the commission in the coming days—who will serve as its Chairperson.
