President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. on Wednesday vowed to blacklist SYMS Construction Trading, the firm linked to an alleged ghost flood-control project in Baliwag, Bulacan, and to go after all those complicit in the anomaly.
“Ang SYMS Construction Trading ay agad na iba-blacklist at haharap sa mga kaso sa ilalim ng Revised Penal Code at RA 3019. Hahanapin at sisiyasatin pa natin ang iba pa nilang proyekto,” Marcos declared.
The President assured that officials who approved and conspired in the project would not be spared.
“Hindi natin palalampasin ito. Sususpendihin at kakasuhan ang lahat ng opisyal na nag-authorize at nakipagsabwatan dito ng paglabag sa Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act at Malversation of Public Funds through Falsification of Public Documents,” he said.
Earlier in the day, Marcos revealed that the Barangay Piel project was listed as completed on paper — but during his inspection, he found it was never finished.
The Chief Executive admitted he was furious over such fraudulent projects, disclosing that 20% of the ₱545 billion budget for flood control projects was cornered by only 15 contractors.
As of now, SYMS Construction Trading has not issued any comment on the President’s tirade.
