President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. congratulated De La Salle University after the Green Archers secured the UAAP men’s basketball championship, praising what he called a classic Finals showdown against the University of the Philippines.
“A great UAAP basketball finals series between UP and La Salle. Well played to all! Congratulations to the UAAP Basketball Champions, the De La Salle Green Archers! A well-deserved championship for a great team,” Marcos said in a social media post.
The President, who attended La Salle Greenhills for elementary education in 1964, capped his message with the school’s rallying cry.
La Salle clinched the title with an 80–72 victory in Game Three on Wednesday night at a packed Smart Araneta Coliseum, avenging last season’s Finals loss to rival UP.
