President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has issued proclamations declaring nine special non-working days this March in various provinces and cities to allow residents to commemorate local milestones, festivals, and historic occasions.
The proclamations, signed by Executive Secretary Ralph Recto and published in the Official Gazette, emphasized the importance of community participation in these celebrations.
“It is but fitting and proper that the people be given full opportunity to participate in the occasion and enjoy the celebration.”
The following dates were designated as special non-working days:
- March 6 – Gutalac, Zamboanga del Norte (47th Araw ng Gutalac, Proclamation No. 1170)
- March 6 – Tadian, Mountain Province (Ayyoweng Di Lambak Ed Tadian Festival, Proclamation No. 1171)
- March 14 – Passi City, Iloilo (City founding anniversary, Proclamation No. 1172)
- March 16 – Davao City (Araw ng Pasasalamat, part of Araw ng Davao, Proclamation No. 1174)
- March 16 – Lugait, Misamis Oriental (Foundation anniversary, Proclamation No. 1175)
- March 17 – Tayug, Pangasinan (Founding anniversary, Proclamation No. 1176)
- March 19 – Kawayan, Biliran (Charter anniversary, Proclamation No. 1177)
- March 19 – Canlaon City, Negros Oriental (Pasayaw Festival 2026, Proclamation No. 1178)
- March 24 – Tabaco City, Albay (Charter Day and 25th cityhood anniversary, Proclamation No. 1179)
Malacañang noted that the declarations are meant to give communities ample opportunity to fully observe and celebrate events that highlight their cultural heritage and historical significance.
