As Typhoon Uwan pummeled Luzon with fierce winds and floods, President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. and Vice President Sara Duterte called for prayer and preparedness.
Marcos and First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos led a Sunday mass in Malacañang dedicated to families affected by Uwan and past storms.

“Sunday mass with special intentions for all the families affected by the recent typhoons,” the First Lady said in a Facebook post showing the President, former First Lady Imelda Marcos, and presidential sister Irene Marcos inside the Palace chapel.
Meanwhile, Duterte shared verses from Psalms 121:5–8 and urged Filipinos to pray and prepare as Uwan swept through Southern and Central Luzon.

“Ipagdasal natin ang ating mga kababayan na nakatira sa mga lugar kung saan dadaan ang Bagyong Uwan,” she said.
“Mas mabuti nang labis ang paghahanda kaysa walang kahandaan.”
Earlier, Marcos placed the entire government on full alert to mobilize all agencies for disaster response and relief operations.
