MARCOS LAUNCHES PUBLIC TRACKER FOR FLOOD CONTROL PROJECTS

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Monday unveiled an interactive website that allows the public to monitor government flood control projects nationwide, fulfilling a directive he made in last year’s State of the Nation Address.

Called “Sumbong sa Pangulo”, the platform is designed for ordinary citizens to easily check the status of projects in their barangays and report problems directly to the government.

“This will help people see if the projects in their areas are done well or not—and tell us about any problems,” Marcos said in a briefing. “We want to keep it simple. You just enter your barangay, and you’ll see all the flood control projects there.”

Developed by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), the database covers all flood control projects started, completed, or still in progress since Marcos assumed office in mid-2022. It features search tools, location data down to the barangay level, and interactive maps with satellite imagery.

Marcos noted this is the third iteration of the website, finalized even while he was on an official trip to India. He said the government is open to public suggestions for new features or information that could strengthen transparency and accountability in infrastructure development.

The launch follows Marcos’ vow last week to hold officials accountable for billions of pesos in allegedly botched or non-existent flood control projects, stressing that investigations will move forward “regardless of political alliances.”
