President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. led the oath-taking ceremony of newly promoted generals and flag officers of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Batch 2, as well as graduates of the Foreign Pre-Commissioned Training Institutions (FPCTI), at the Ceremonial Hall of Malacañang Palace on Wednesday, October 1.

In a Facebook post, Marcos said the ceremony marked a milestone for the 29 newly appointed AFP generals and flag officers, along with 14 FPCTI graduates.
Under the FPCTI program, cadets from the Philippine Military Academy (PMA) and other AFP training institutions undergo education and training in allied countries’ military academies and institutions, including the United States, Japan, and Australia.
“Our nation continues to face challenges and pressures aimed at weakening our social foundations. From disinformation campaigns to ideological radicalization, these domestic threats seek to sow confusion and division among us,” Marcos said.
He added, “We must not, we will not stand idle in the face of such threats. This is where your role in the AFP becomes indispensable – to hold the line and do it with resolve, with clarity, and loyalty to your constitutional duty.”
Calling on the military to remain vigilant while external defense is being reinforced, Marcos reassured them of his support.
“As your commander-in-chief, I stand in line with you in every trial, in every mission, and in every step taken for our great republic,” he said.
The FPCTI program is designed to enhance cadets’ skills, provide them with international experience, and open opportunities to strengthen the Philippines’ diplomatic ties with allies. Upon their return, graduates are expected to serve as AFP officers with broader knowledge and perspective on global security and cooperation.
