President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. clarified on Thursday, November 13, that former House Speaker and Leyte 1st District Representative Ferdinand Martin Romualdez is not included among those to be charged in connection with the alleged anomalous flood control projects.
Marcos said his cousin is not on the list due to a lack of solid evidence linking him to the controversy.
“The [former] speaker [Romualdez] no, not as yet. If something comes out, then he might have to be answerable for something,” the President said in his report.
He also urged the public to help provide evidence to ensure accountability in the ongoing investigations.
Earlier, Marcos vowed that those involved in the irregularities will face charges before Christmas.
The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) has already filed cases with the Department of Justice (DOJ) against 89 contractors and officials from the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) and the Commission on Audit (COA) for tax evasion amounting to ₱8.86 billion.
