MARCOS ORDERS CONTINUED RELIEF, RESCUE OPERATIONS IN UWAN-HIT AREAS

President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. on Monday, November 10, ordered the continuation of relief and rescue operations in areas heavily affected by Typhoon Uwan during a situation briefing with government agencies.

The President directed the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and the Department of Health (DOH) to deploy medical teams to evacuation sites to address the health needs of displaced residents.

He also instructed the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) to immediately begin rehabilitating damaged roads to ensure the swift delivery of aid to affected provinces.

According to the Office of Civil Defense (OCD), Pangasinan suffered the most severe flooding, with more than 426,000 families evacuated preemptively. The Bicol Region recorded the highest number of evacuees at around 100,050 families—44,000 in Camarines Sur and 20,000 in Quezon Province.

The DPWH reported that 71 roads remain impassable, mostly in Central Luzon and the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR), including Mountain Province, Benguet, and Apayao.

Meanwhile, 155 power interruptions were recorded, primarily in the Ilocos Region.

Based on the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council’s (NDRRMC) situational report, Typhoon Uwan has affected 230,955 families or 836,572 individuals across 2,710 barangays in Regions II, IV-A, V, VI, VIII, IX, X, and XIII (Caraga).

Although Uwan has exited the Philippine landmass, the OCD advised the public to remain cautious of possible rain-induced hazards in several regions.
