President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. has directed all government agencies to go on full alert as Typhoon Uwan approaches Northern and Central Luzon, urging the public to stay vigilant and follow evacuation orders.
The President said rescue and relief operations are in motion nationwide, with the DOTr and LTFRB deploying vehicles for evacuation efforts, while the DSWD, DPWH, AFP, and PCG have positioned lifeboats, trucks, and food packs in high-risk areas.
Emergency convoys are exempted from toll fees, and priority lanes have been opened for responders. The MMDA and local governments are clearing waterways, while malls have opened parking spaces as temporary shelters for flood-prone residents.
Magkaisa tayo. Ang bawat segundo ay mahalaga,” Marcos added.
Uwan, the second major storm in less than a month, threatens areas still recovering from Typhoon Tino, which earlier prompted Marcos to place the country under a yearlong state of national calamity.
