
President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. has directed all government agencies to intensify preparations and accelerate aid and response efforts for communities affected by flooding across Metro Manila and nearby provinces.
In a statement posted by the Presidential Communications Office, the President emphasized the importance of quick and coordinated action in the face of the current crisis, instructing relevant agencies to ensure that the public feels the government’s presence and support.
“Nabigyan ko na ng instructions ang lahat ng ating mga ahensya na paghandaan ang naging baha dahil sa napakalakas na ulan,” President Marcos said.
He added, “Sinabihan ko na ang OCD, DoTR, DOH, DOST, DSWD, DPWH, DOE, tsaka DILG at lahat pa, lahat ng ahensya na mag-trabaho sila at mag-coordinate sila upang tiyakin na ligtas ang ating mga kababayan.”
The agencies mentioned include the Office of the Civil Defense (OCD), Department of Transportation (DoTR), Department of Health (DOH), Department of Science and Technology (DOST), Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), Department of Energy (DOE), and the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG).
In light of the situation, President Marcos also ordered the immediate suspension of preparations for his fourth State of the Nation Address (SONA), scheduled for Monday, July 28.
President Marcos is currently in the United States on a state visit with U.S. President Donald Trump.
