President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. expressed gratitude and pride to overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) in the United Arab Emirates, recognizing their vital contributions to both their host country and the Philippine economy.
Speaking before nearly 700 members of the Filipino community in Abu Dhabi, Marcos said Filipino workers have helped shape the UAE’s growth since its early years, earning respect through professionalism, resilience, and hard work.

“Kayo po ang nagbibigay ng karangalan sa ating bansa sa pamamagitan ng inyong kontribusyon sa United Arab Emirates, sa magandang ehemplo na inyong ipinakita sa inyong trabaho, sa inyong mga kapwa Pilipino, sa pamahalaan ng UAE, sa iba’t ibang mga lahi na naninirahan dito, at sa kontribusyon ng inyong ibinigay sa ekonomiya sa ating minamahal na Pilipinas,” Marcos said.
He noted that the UAE is home to one of the largest Filipino communities in the Middle East, reflecting strong global demand for Filipino talent.
Marcos assured OFWs that their welfare remains a priority of his administration, citing ongoing programs to protect their rights and address their needs.
The President also highlighted efforts to expand employment opportunities and strengthen trade and investment ties between the Philippines and the UAE, saying deeper economic cooperation would open more opportunities for Filipino workers, professionals, and entrepreneurs.
Marcos urged Filipinos abroad to pursue lifelong learning, skills development, and bayanihan to ensure collective growth and resilience overseas.
His remarks came during his two-day working visit to the UAE, where he witnessed the signing of a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement and a defense cooperation pact, aimed at boosting trade, strengthening security ties, and elevating bilateral relations.
