MARCOS REAFFIRMS SUPPORT FOR BANGSAMORO PEOPLE-CENTERED GOVERNANCE

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. reaffirmed his administration’s support for the Bangsamoro region’s pursuit of a people-centered system of governance during a grand Iftar he hosted at Malacañang Palace on Thursday, March 12.

The President made the statement before Muslim leaders and guests who gathered for the traditional breaking of the fast during Ramadan.

Marcos emphasized that the journey toward lasting peace and self-governance in the Bangsamoro requires patience, cooperation, and continued dialogue.

“The journey toward peace and meaningful self-governance is never simple. It requires patience, honest dialogue, and the courage to believe that reconciliation is always possible,” Marcos said.

“As previously and numerously mentioned before, this Administration remains fully supportive of creating a people-centered governance system in the Bangsamoro region,” he added.

He also stressed that efforts to secure peace in the region must continue, assuring attendees that his administration remains committed to ensuring that the benefits of peace translate into real improvements in the lives of the Bangsamoro people and the rest of the country.

“Because peace must not exist only in signed agreements; it must be felt in everyday life,” he said.

“And so, gatherings like this carry a deeper meaning than what we sometimes realize. They inspire all of us, Muslim and non-Muslims alike, to walk the path of respect, of understanding, and solidarity,” Marcos added.
